No Heat

When this becomes an emergency

What a pro does

The first question is whether the appliance has power and fuel, not whether it is broken. A tripped breaker, a blown low-voltage fuse, a service switch someone bumped, or a tank that ran dry all leave a system looking dead in exactly the same way. Once power and fuel check out, the technician moves to thermostat wiring and then walks the ignition sequence in order, since most outages end at a safety control doing its job. Jumping straight to parts on a rural call is an expensive way to guess when the answer's usually upstream.

Frequently asked questions

It is one of the most common. Heating equipment pulls enough current that a weakening breaker gives out under load before anything mechanical does.
The burner will not fire, and the system usually needs the line checked and the appliance restarted properly once fuel is back rather than simply being switched on again.
Once is fine. If it trips again immediately something is drawing more current than it should, and repeated resets risk damage to the control board.
Cold air settles, so a room can be uncomfortable well before a thermostat at shoulder height registers the drop.
